Days 1 & 2 - travelling 

So, a Grand Tour begins, Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, Vienna, Salzburg.. This time I am accompanied by TC* so my writing opportunities may be curtailed by talking, but I will do my best. 

The holiday begins well in Hounslow. We are picked up by a taxi, organised by the tour company, which goes on to pick up 4 more passengers. They are all quite chatty and it's not long before we know where they are all travelling to, and not too much longer before we know their life histories, occupations, ages, and which cars their neighbours own, etc etc. Struggling to get a word in, TC is reduced to ums and ahs, a rare occurrence indeed. I'm content to stare out of the window and I occasionally smile to show willing. 

A stop in Liege and another days travel. It's amazing how much you can learn about your travelling companions sitting on a coach for two days. I have now also heard the complete history of the Czech Republic and as I duly did in school history lessons, have completely forgotten it. 

Eventually we arrive in Prague, looking forward to seeing the city tomorrow. 

Google says 758 miles. Its feels like it.
